Keeping Everyone in the Loop!

This week was pretty much a standard week in the life of the Viking Pups:

Zorn is still Coney Island:

Emmy is still adorable and brilliant:
Rockstar at training with Handler Kori!

We’re waiting to temperament test for our future Carver and Westie:

Who will it be? Even we do not know!

But other than that, a pretty boring week! To make up for this, here’s a list of events the Viking Pups and their handlers have participated in since we got back to school!

Mutt Strut

The Viking Pups represented QCCAN at Mutt Strut, a fundraiser for the Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center.

Bark for Life:

At Bark for Life, the amazing Hillary Plog, President of QCCAN and Mentor/ Head Trainer / Overall Dog Expert for Viking Pups, gave a demonstration on pet obedience. Handler Kat showed off Emmy's mad puppy skills while handler Paula demonstrated Zorn's prodigal self.

Epilepsy Talk:
The article can be found HERE
Where President Mary and Vice President Allie gave a special talk to families with members who have epilepsy. Mary and Allie showed just how much a seizure response dog can help out those people suffering from all sorts of epilepsy- including the gorgeous girl featured with Zorn right above!

And not to mention a New Handler Recruitment meeting (we can’t wait to see who’ll prove themselves the best of this new bunch!)

And some sweet reunions:
Amy was left at home for the first week of term- Zorn was distraught.
Who said they had to be between people?

And in apologies for the long overdue blog, here are some of our favorite Viking Pups Pics from over the summer!

Hillary Plog, Mary Kiolbasa, Emmy, and Emmy's Uncle Carlos!

As always, thanks to Lisa Francescon for all of the beautiful watermarked images of the dogs (both Captured Moments and Fransescon Portraiture!) and thanks to the summer fosters for all of the great pictures of these guys.

A special thanks to:

QCCAN

The Quad Cities Canine Assistant Network is the non-profit organization that makes our program possible. As sister organizations QCCAN is an integral part of the Viking Pups mission, helping us with training, putting us in contact with clients, and most importantly, training service dogs and reaching more people who need the dogs to live better lives.

Christina Clark, our fabulous breeder and owner of Iron Hill Retrievers. All of our Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers have been donated by Christina and they are all spectacular, with wonderful temperaments and absolutely GREAT looks.

A huge thank you to the Huerta Hof family for donating our German Shepherd girl Emmy! Team Huerta Hof breeds gorgeous German Shepherds, and their dogs are found everywhere, from family homes to the Schutzhund field. We're sure Emmy will be a huge success!

And last but not least:

Lisa Francescon and Francescon Portraiture!!!

Thanks for taking all of your beautiful pictures, Lisa! They're amazing, and you show off our pups so much better than our grainy phone pictures! You're incredibly talented and deserve every bit of business you get!

  3. Why is it that you delete comments that address the serious questions of donors to your group? Seems like you're trying to hide something

    1. If you would like to honestly address something, you need to contact us. Most of your concerns are simply being posted here as anonymous to raise drama on our blog and it is not the place for these issues to be discussed. If you would like to ask us any questions, you may email us at Vikingpups@augustana.edu and we will discuss them with you what we can.
