  1. There is no better to describe Tucker then to say he is a unique character. He not only brightens up my days, but also those of everyone he comes in contact with. I have yet to go anywhere where I wasn't stopped by at least one person who had to tell me how beautiful he is. He was even specially invited to my cousin's birthday party because she loves him so much (he wore a tie because it was a tea party).
He was a shy puppy at the start of the summer but has greatly come out of his shell. He is really curious and also really wants to learn. When at home, he still enjoys being a puppy but is always a perfect gentleman out in public. He is the most low key puppy in public that some people don't believe me when I say how young he is.
His training is coming along well. Being the only retriever I ever met who didn't like fetch, I had to find a new way to teach him "drop", "take it", and "bring it". He is really made advancements on drop and take, but bring is still in the works. He is also learning the command "touch" with his nose, because he loves to use his nose in games; this might enable him to have further skills like turning on and off lights in the future. He is also learning "tug" to eventually let him open things. Over the summer his sits, downs, long stays, and stays with distractions have improved daily. He also learned to be well behaved in his crate in case he can't go with a handler somewhere.
We have also been working on exposing him to as much public things as possible. He is well behaved in stores, however he tends to fall asleep if the check out lines are too long or if you spend too long in the dressing room. He has also gone to movies, family parties, restaurants, summer camp (with special education students), boxing class, doctors appointments, hospitals, hotels, stores (of all different types), and banks.
He still has things to work on, but of course he does, he is still a puppy. His lovable personality and great disposition as well as his desire to learn and please, are great indications of his future success :)

  2. Tucker was placed on November 2nd at Jefferson Elementary in Clinton, Iowa and it could not be a more perfect job for him. He helps the kids at the school, as motivation to behave, reward for behaving, and as help for children with emotional and social problems. He makes a huge difference in the kids and teachers lives every day and he enjoys his job so much! Tucker has a Facebook so we get to keep up on all he is doing, he makes us proud every day!!
